The first component is responsible for the longer maintenance of the hakama pleats, minimizing material shrinkage during washing and abrasion resistance, the second for the naturalness of the fabric. The fabric is slightly stiffer than 100% cotton but more elegant. It's made on the basis of traditional cut with 7 pleats, 5 on the front and 2 on the back. On the back and from the inside of iaido hakama, a plastic hera is sewn in. Inserting it behind the belt or obi helps to keep the koshiita in place. Front of iaido hakama is shorter about 2cm than back. Koshiita is rigid with stiff insert to support right posture.
